Noted lyricist, poet and writer Gulzar called on Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at his residence here Tuesday and praised the state's initiatives for protecting the environment.
The chief minister apprised Gulzar about the state's forest policy and how the government had imposed a complete ban on felling of trees a long time ago.
He said the state has adopted strict measures to make the state polythene-free, an official statement said.
Gulzar appreciated the steps taken by the government for the preservation of the environment. He presented his books to the chief minister.
The chief minister honoured Gulzar with a traditional Himachali cap and shawl.
