Multinational software giant Adobe has revealed that a sophisticated hacking attempt has caused theft of encrypted data related to its 2.9 million customers, including customers' names, passwords and credit card numbers.
"Our investigation currently indicates that the attackers accessed Adobe customer IDs and encrypted passwords on our systems," reported The Independent citing chief security officer Brad Arkin who posted the attack's details on the company's blog.
"We also believe the attackers removed from our systems certain information relating to 2.9 million Adobe customers, including customer names, encrypted credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates, and other information relating to customer orders."
Though the official stated that no decrypted financial information was stolen, he said the company would contact all those users whose information was involved.
Stating that the company values "the trust of our customers", the official statement said: "We will work aggressively to prevent these types of events from occurring in the future. Again, we deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause you."
