Nearly half of those who bought goods advertised on TV in China believe they have been cheated at least once, and most of them chose not to complain, a survey said Thursday.
According to People's Daily and a Beijing-based polling agency, 14.3 percent of respondents to a survey bought something through TV ads and 45 percent of them felt they were cheated.
Only 8.3 percent of the shoppers tried to get their money back, and 75.6 percent of them said no one responded to their complaints, Xinhua reported.
Only 12.5 percent got "some" compensation after undergoing "innumerable hardships".
"It's too troublesome" and "there will be no good results" were the most common responses by the majority who did not bother to complain.
