Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is ideal to lead the country, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Saturday, adding he will be happy to serve the party under his leadership.
The question posed to the prime minister, during his return from the G20 Summit in St. Petersburg, was: Do you think it is possible for you to go ahead for a third term, because many in the Congress party would like to see Rahul Gandhi to lead the party?
"I have always maintained that Rahul Gandhi will be an ideal choice for the prime minister's position after the 2014 election," the prime minister said.
"I would be very happy to work for the Congress party under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi."
