Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan Sunday met the top leadership of the RSS here and apprised them of the current political scenario as the party is reportedly keen on holding fresh polls in the capital, a party source said.
According to the source, the Bharatiya Janata Party which won all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi is keen on fresh assembly polls, not wanting to lose momentum.
"He discussed many things and fresh polls was one of the issues," said the source.
Harsh Vardhan would Monday be meeting party leader Nitin Gadkari, who was in charge of the Delhi assembly election, as well as party's national vice president Prabhat Jha.
Harsh Vardhan, who was the party's chief ministerial candidate in the assembly election last year, is keen to retain the role and was not amused by reports that India's first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi could be the party's candidate for the job.
Reportedly, Bedi is considered close to soon-to-be prime minister Narendra Modi. But Harsh Vardhan, who won from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, has got the backing of the RSS.
"He may get a bigger role at the centre... you never know, but he is not too keen to leave Delhi as of now," said the source.
