Actor Harshvardhan Rane took a step towards making the city green by planting saplings across Mumbai on the World Environment Day, which falls on June 5.
The activity was part of a campaign initiated by moneycontrol.com, a financial platform, and crowdfunding platform Impact Guru.
The "Sanam Teri Kasam" actor also spoke about the need for more greenery.
He said in a statement: "Just like we celebrate other festivals, World Environment Day too, should be observed and given due importance. I have always been pro-tree plantation, and I encourage everyone else to do the same."
"It is extremely essential for us to take due care of the planet we live on, which will also benefit our future generations."
The event at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park marked the first day of the the month-long campaign that aims to see 5,000 saplings planted.
