The Haryana government will review all decisions of the previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda regime made after May 16, the day that Lok Sabha election results were declared, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Monday.

The Khattar government also announced that all ongoing recruitment would be stopped at once.

After his first cabinet meeting, Khattar said: "The Haryana government would review all the announcements and decisions pertaining to appointments or recruitments made after May 16 by the previous government."

Khattar told the media that "after proper review, those (decisions) found to be in public interest would be continued and where any discrepancies are found, the decision would be taken as per law".

He said the cabinet also decided to stop all ongoing recruitment with immediate effect.

"All cases of re-employment made during the regime of the previous government would be re-examined. I have asked to prepare a list of such re-employment so as to take further action in the next cabinet meeting," Khattar said.

However, he clarified that reviewing the decisions of the Hooda government did not mean that the new government was rejecting those.

The Hooda government had resorted to large-scale sops to all sections, including government staff, senior citizens, women, youth and others after May 16 after the Congress fared badly in the Lok Sabha polls. Most of these sops were announced before the model code of conduct for the assembly election came into force in September.

Khattar said the implementation of enhanced old age allowance and pay scales for government employees on the Punjab pattern would be implemented if found suitable after the review.

"Whatever is found suitable would be implemented and the others would be cancelled," he said.
