The Delhi High Court on Monday stayed the Jawaharlal Nehru University's (JNU) decision to cancel the candidature of National Students Union of India member Vikas Yadav for the September 14 students union elections.
Justice Siddharth Mridul said that the stay order will remain till November 27, the next date of hearing.
Yadav had challenged the JNU's September 7 order to debar him, citing a proctorial inquiry initiated against him wherein he was asked to pay Rs 20,000 in fine and transfer of hostel.
Yadav, pursuing M. Phil in International Relations from the university, had also sought directions for calling the records of the disciplinary inquiry against him.
