At least eight people died and three went missing following rain-triggered landslides in China's Sichuan province, authorities said Wednesday.

Heavy downpour lashed the Yibin city from Tuesday night till Wednesday morning, with precipitation in some townships exceeding 100 mm, reported Xinhua citing local authorities in a statement.

The rainstorms wreaked havoc in six townships in Yeben's two counties, it said, adding apart from the 11 dead and missing, two people were injured.
