The hills of Himachal Pradesh Saturday saw marginal fall in the maximum temperatures but still most of the prominent tourist spots recorded temperatures two to five degrees above the average, the meteorological office said here.

However, the met office has indicated relief in the offing with rain and thundershowers predicted across the state Sunday.

"Temperatures across the state remained on the higher side but in the past 24 hours the state got some relief from scorching heat," an official of the meteorological office here told IANS.

He said Shimla's maximum temperature has fallen by 2.2 degrees. It recorded a high of 30.7 degrees Celsius Friday.

Likewise, Dharamsala recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius and Una registered 43.6 degrees Tuesday. These towns a day earlier recorded a high of 36.8 and 44.8 degrees, respectively.

The met office director said western disturbances would be active Sunday with chances of light to moderate rain or thundershower across the state.

Popular tourist resorts like Narkanda, Kufri, Kasauli, Manali, Palampur, Chamba and Dalhousie were also experiencing much hotter weather.
