The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday directed the state government to respond within two weeks on rising pollution in Baddi industrial area in Solan district.
It asked all respondents to submit reports to the Principal Secretary (Environment), who would then file a consolidated report in the court.
Taking cognisance of a media report, a division bench of Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma passed these orders.
The report said less than 50 per cent of industrial units in Baddi are using the common effluent treatment plant. It said the plant is treating 11 million litres of waste against its capacity of 25 million litres daily.
The case has been listed for hearing on April 13.
