Himachal minister urges nurses to serve in rural areas

Himachal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Wednesday called on nurses to come forward voluntarily to serve in the state's rural areas.

The minister, who was addressing members of the Himachal branch of tghe Trained Nurses Association of India here, said that training of nursing sisters in ward administration would be restored as it would go a long way in enhancing their professional efficiency.

He also stressed on the need for providing qualitative and better health services for rural populace.

Kaul Singh said the state government was considering enhancing the diet allowance of nurses from Rs.6 to Rs.18 per day.

The minister said immunisation training would also be included in training for upgradation of nurses' skills. He added that annual confidential report of nurses would be made available online.

He said the government was considering raising the number of nurses in the state and more posts of nurses would be filled to provide quality medical care services to the people of the state.
