The Himachal Pradesh government will organise the Major Dhyan Chand Memorial Hockey Tournament for Under-25 men at the Indira Sports Stadium in Una next month, an official said here Saturday.
Presiding over the Himachal Pradesh Sports Council meeting here, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh approved the tournament.
The sports stadium in Una is the second astroturf hockey field in the state after the Rajeev Gandhi High Altitude Training Centre in Shilaroo in Shimla district.
The chief minister also gave approval for setting up a shooting range here, a government spokesperson told IANS.
Youth services and sports principal secretary V.C. Pharka said the sports department would be organising International Paragliding Championship (Category-II) and Open Himalayan Championship at Bir-Billing in Kangra district in October.
