Well-known singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan on Friday said he is honoured to be a part of upcoming film "Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi", starring Kangana Ranaut.
"Our next biggie. She was an inspiration. We are honoured to do the music of 'Manikarnika'," Shankar tweeted.
To be directed by Krish, the project will have music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
The film will see Kangana play Rani Laxmibai.
On Thursday, the project was officially launched in Varanasi, on the banks of the Ganges.
Speaking on the occasion, Kangana said: "The prep is restricted to the material like photographs and letters. I saw a lot of things here. I will be going to Jhansi and other places for research."
The film, which will be dubbed and released in Telugu and Tamil, is slated for April 2018 release.
