Hooda rules out early assembly polls

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Friday ruled out any possibility of going in for early state assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha polls next year.

Hooda, who completed four years of his second term Oct 25, told media persons here that his government would complete its full five-year term before the next assembly elections are held.

The 90-member Haryana assembly's tenure ends in October next year.

There have been speculations that Hooda could go in for early assembly polls along with the Lok Sabha polls likely to be held in May next year.

Hooda, who became chief minister in March 2005 in his first term, opted for assembly elections in Oct 2009, six months ahead of schedule. The Congress returned to power by roping in Independent legislators after failing to get a clear majority.

The state government will hold a rally Sunday (Nov 10) in Gohana town near Panipat, 210 km from here, to mark the completion of four years in office.

The chief minister said all members of parliament and the state legislature, including some detractors from within the Congress, have been invited for the rally.
