Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday called on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley here and sought funding for centrally-sponsored schemes on the pattern of assistance provided to north-eastern states.
The chief minister drew attention to the fact that the government of India had been providing funds to the special category states, particularly to north-eastern states, in proportion of 90:10, an official statement released by the state government here said.
The chief minister requested that this pattern should also be adopted in case of Himachal Pradesh so that the expectations and aspirations of people could be fulfilled.
Virbhadra Singh said there was a vast potential in the state in the field of hydropower and tourism, which needed to be explored with the help of funding agencies.
The statement said Jaitley assured all possible help to the state.
