Reliance Defence Systems on Thursday appointed Vice Admiral H.S. Malhi (retd.) as its group president and chief executive officer.
According to the company, Vice Admiral Malhi's expertise in strategic planning and project execution will enable it to realise the goal of creating India's foremost defence company.
The company added that Vice Admiral Malhi has had a distinguished carrier spanning 36-years in the Indian Navy. Post serving in the navy, he was appointed as chairman and managing director of Mazagon Dock.
The company had recently announced the acquisition of Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering. The company is a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), a part of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group.
RInfra provides engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for developing power and road projects, among other business interests.
