Actor Ranvir Shorey announced his separation from his wife of five years Konkona Sen Sharma earlier this month, but he says his belief in the institution of marriage is not shaken.
Ranvir was present at an event here to launch the trailer of "Titli", and there he spoke about his split.
"This is about my recent announcement of separation. Yes, we have separated mutually. But I still believe in the institution of marriage," he said.
"I understand because of my recent separation this question is coming up (of belief in marriage). But I don't think the institution of marriage has anything to do in that. I only blame myself for that (the split)," added Ranvir, who was dating Konkona before they settled down.
The couple, parents to four-year-old son Haroon, took social media platform Twitter accounts to announce their split following the long-drawn-out rumour surrounding the status of their relationship.
In reference to a specific dialogue in the trailer of "Titli" -- "Marriage is all about family plan" -- he was asked about the concept of an arranged marriage.
To that, he said: "I don't believe in arrange marriage. My marriage was not arranged. But yes, I believe in family planning."
Ranvir and Konkona got married in 2010, and they starred together in films like "Traffic Signal", "Mixed Doubles", "Aaja Nachle" and "Gour Hari Dastaan - The Freedom File".
Ranvir's next is "Titli", directed by Kanu Behl, co-produced by Dibakar Banerjee Productions Pvt. Ltd. and Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films (YRF). Apart from Ranvir, the film stars Amit Sial, Shashank Arora, Lalit Behl and Shivani Raghuvanshi in the lead roles.
It releases on October 16, 2015.
