An accelerated bidding process was opened on Thursday for the reallocation of two 2016 IAAF World Athletics Series competitions that were originally set in Russia.

Four cities - Rome, Kiev, Monterrey (Mexico) and Guayaquil (Ecuador) - have bid for the World Race Walking Team Championships, which were to be in Cheboksary in May, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) confirmed in a statement.

The World Junior Championships, which were due to be in Kazan in July, have attracted three bidders: Perth, Bydogoszcz (Poland) and an India city yet to be confirmed, reports Xinhua.

The new hosts will be chosen on January 7 by the IAAF council.
