An IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre was found dead under mysterious circumstances here on Wednesday, police said.
Anurag Tiwari of the 2007 batch was posted as the Commissioner of Karnataka Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department. He was in the Uttar Pradesh capital for the past two days.
Tiwari, 35, belonged to Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh. He was staying at the government guest house on Meerabai Marg here.
Tiwari apparently went for a morning walk when he collapsed, near the guest house, the police said.
Some blood was seen on the road. But there were no major injuries except for a small cut on the chin, a police official said.
Police Inspector A.K. Shahi told IANS that the exact cause of the death would only be ascertained after post-mortem.
An electrical engineer from Lucknow University, Tiwari, who was divorced, had earlier served as Deputy Commissioner of Bidar, Assistant Commissioner of Madhugiri, Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu and Deputy Secretary (Finance) in Bengaluru.
