The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has carried out an audit of India's civil aviation safety system and procedures.
According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the audit was carried out under the ICAO's "Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme".
"A five-member audit team carried out the audit of India in areas of personal licensing, airworthiness, operations, legislation and organisation from 6th to 16th November," the ministry said in a statement issued on Friday.
"Teams visited Chennai, Mumbai and CATC, Allahabad, to ascertain the implementation of safety related procedures as per regulations laid down by DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) in line with ICAO annexes."
As per the statement, "the audit team was satisfied" with the safety system put in place by the regulator.
The procedures laid down by ICAO require the audit team to present its report to the "headquarter team and a draft report" is then made available to the state (India) in about 90 days.
The country is then required to provide its comment and an action plan on various aspects of the report and make it available to ICAO within 45 days.
Only, thereafter the report is finalised and made available to other member states of ICAO.
