Actress Saiyami Kher, who will be soon seen in filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's film "Mirzya", made her debut on the runway in a creation by ace designer Gaurav Gupta on the penultimate day of the FDCI India Couture Week (ICW) 2016 here.

With her curly hair brushed to one side, Saiyami sashayed down the ramp on Saturday in a pastel blue and silver ensemble with ruffles, from Gupta's collection titled Scape song, and a glittery eye make-up.

Although her platform sandals came apart, the actress continued to walk with confidence and held herself with elan.

Talking about her experience as a debutante on the ramp, Saiyami told media here: "This is very special to me as this was my first time on the ramp. Although I have modelled before, they were mostly for stills. It was lovely and I cannot wait to be back on the ramp."

Exploring unusual silhouettes mixed with a lot of drapes and intelligent construction, the multi-layered high waist skirts, classic silhouettes with a modern twist, made the collection standout.

It was an amalgamation of different layers, ruffles and vintage colours like grey, green, brown, pastel hues of blue, white and powder pink.

"The collection gives out a global message that India is very much a part of the globe and is the leading global country. It's a statement collection of contemporary, almost futuristic new Indian wear. All of us are well travelled global citizens, but at the same time we enjoy the Indian-ness," Gupta told IANS.

Gupta had also given the models elongated eye lash look inspired by birds as the whole theme of the collection was like an ode to nature.

The ramp was made of Plaster of Paris in an irregular shape with lines all over, while the music played was an instrumental version of British singer Adele's hit song "Rolling in the deep" among other compositions.

Ace designers Manav Gangwani and Rohit Bal will be showcasing their latest collection on the fifth day of the event on Sunday.
