From a portable and low-cost device for early detection of infectious disease to a bus identification system aimed at helping blind people to independently board the vehicle - these and many other projects are part of the IIT Delhi Open House 2015.

The 11th annual Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi Open House 2015 will feature nearly 500 projects on April 18 (Saturday), 12 out of which were featured at a preview on Thursday.

"The annual IIT Open House represents the culmination of a year's worth of inimitable innovations of IIT Delhi. The exhibition is an opportunity for the wider community to experience the innovative vision of our students," Suneet Tuli, dean, research, IIT Delhi, said.

Some other projects on display would include a water purification device efficient in the removal of toxic metal ions and dissolved organic contaminants from water, a refreshable Braille display that would enable blind people to read digital text through tactile interface and the Virtually Vittala project that would give users an experience of Hampi's Vittala temple.

Live displays of research projects developed by students, staff and faculty; technical workshops by experts and a walking tour of the on-campus laboratories are some of the highlights of this exhibition.
