The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, has announced the 12th edition of Open House which will be held on April 23 in its vicinity.
Over 500 research projects and 80 demo projects will be presented in the event which expects participation of more than 4,000 school children, IIT Delhi announced on Tuesday.
Around 20 innovative projects with a "high societal impact" will be showcased at the event such as a hip protective device, Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinder cap remover, environment friendly bio-fertiliser, diagram books for blind students, a system of better drainage systems in Delhi and so on.
"The idea of IIT Open House is to identify projects where a new product or technology is created with high societal impact," V. Ramgopal Rao, who assumed office as the director of the institute four days ago, said.
"We (IIT Delhi) probably need to connect more to the society and we need to be working on technologies which have societal relevance. We are going to connect with agricultural and healthcare institutions and would like to work on multi-disciplinary projects offering societal benefits," he added.
The demo research and posters will be evaluated by an internal team of IIT Delhi. The open house will include sessions such as 3D Vision and Holograms by Professor Joby Joseph.
The exhibition is open and free for the public from 10 a.m. and the demonstration will be carried on till 2 p.m. The laboratories, however, will stay open for visitors till 4 p.m.
