Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan Monday joined a caravan of his supporters which was passing through different areas of Lahore after imposing a shutdown on the city earlier in the day.

Imran Khan was welcomed by a huge crowd after his caravan reached Charing Cross in Lahore Monday evening, Dawn News reported.

While addressing party supporters at Charing Cross, the PTI chairman condemned the harassment of women at rallies in Lahore.

"Misbehaviour against women should not happen, workers should protect the media and women attending the rally," he said.

While speaking about the protest march, he thanked the people of Lahore for coming out to show their support for his movement.

"We have come out to hold prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Zardari accountable," the PTI chairman said.

"Nawaz Sharif won the 2013 general elections through rigging," Khan said.

"If Nawaz Sharif wishes, he can constitute a judicial commission to investigate rigging within 48 hours," he said.

PTI activists have gathered at various locations here, where they burnt tyres and blockaded 18 areas, closing down all traffic.

The blockaded areas include Mall Road, Liberty Chowk, Bhutta Chowk, Town Hall Chowk and the area outside the Punjab assembly.

A clash occurred between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PTI activists, however, no one was injured.

Dec 12, PTI successfully imposed a shutdown in the port city of Karachi.

PTI's earlier shutdown in Faisalabad Dec 8 resulted in the death of a party activist during violent clashes with PML-N supporters and police.
