Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau on Thursday summoned cricketer-turned- politician Imran Khan in connection with an ongoing inquiry into the "misuse" of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government's helicopters for personal use.
A notice has been issued to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman to appear before the NAB in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on July 18, an official told Dawn.
NAB chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal had in February this year directed the bureau's provincial director general to conduct an inquiry against the PTI chief and then KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak over unofficial use of two government helicopters - a MI-17 and an Ecureuil.
A press release issued by the bureau had stated that there was documentary evidence that Khan paid Rs 2.1 million for using an Mi-17 and an Ecureuil helicopter belonging to the provincial government for a total of 74 hours.
Khan had claimed at a party meeting that he had not used official helicopters of the province for personal use.
