Challenging filmmaking venture India Film Project (IFP) will return with its sixth edition in October.

India Film Project, which encourages people to make films, is a platform focused at content creation rather than content consumption.

The grand film event, which was earlier held in Ahmedabad, has now moved to Mumbai. It will take place on October 1 at NESCO Goregaon here.

The project is a filmmaking challenge with a twist where participants from across the globe create a film on a given theme in a time-limit of 50 hours.

The teams will script, shoot, edit and upload the films, which post the submission will be viewed by a jury.

The winning films will be showcased at different festivals globally. The event will also witness some of the best content creators on one platform, the schedule of which is yet to be announced.

The jury for India Film Project 2016 comprises National Award-winning filmmakers like Madhur Bhandarkar, Nagesh Kukunoor, Sriram Raghavan and Vetri Maaran.

"In India, filmmaking has been limited to a few and the niche only. With IFP 2016, segregating varied participation categories, there is a fair chance for people to partake in large numbers.

"I must emphasise that in the last three to four years, the ratio of content consumer to content creator has changed drastically," Ritam Bhatnagar, founder, India Film Project, said in a statement.

"Participation by students, housewives and working professionals in India Film Project has made this art look 'cool' and much acceptable by the masses thus, prompting us to shift base to Mumbai," he added.
