A delegation comprising senior officers of the Indian armed forces has arrived here on a five-day study tour of South Korea as part of the Higher Command Course (HCC) conducted by the Army War College (AWC) in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.

Led by AWC dean Maj. Gen. M. Ramesh Babu, the 22-member delegation -- which arrived here Sunday -- includes senior select officers of colonel and equivalent ranks from the Indian armed forces attending a year-long 'Higher Command Course' at the AWC, according to a statement issued by the Indian embassy in Seoul.

The programme of the delegation includes courtesy calls, visits and briefings at South Korea's Ministry of National Defence and the embassy of India at Seoul, national defence institutes like the Korea National Defence University (KNDU) and Joint Forces Military University (JFMU), and eminent think tanks.

The delegation will also travel to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between South Korea and North Korea and visit some important industrial and research and development establishments like the Hyundai Shipbuilding and the Korean Agency for Defence Development.

It will be exposed to Korean culture and history through visits to national institutes that include the National War Memorial of Korea and the National Museum.

Sunday evening, the delegation met India's ambassador to South Korea Vishnu Prakash, who shared his perspective on the vibrant India-Korea relationship.

This is the second visit to South Korea by senior members of India's armed forces as part of study tours this year, the 40th anniversary year of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and South Korea.
