An Indian expatriates' club in Bahrain celebrated its 100th anniversary Friday.

The Indian Club was originally established in 1915 as the Bahrain Sports Club.

It changed its name in 1985 and today it has 952 members, including 120 life members, Gulf Daily News reported.

"We're proud to be part of the club, especially at this moment," Anand Lobo, the club's president, was quoted as saying.

A hundred-day celebration will officially get under way Oct 24, concluding with a finale Jan 30, 2015.

Cultures from various states in India will be highlighted once every week.
