India's hopes of a strong finish in the ongoing IBSF World Under-21 snooker championships vanished as all its four players in the men's section tasted defeats, here Friday.
While Ashutosh Phady, Ishpreet Singh Chadha and Dhvaj Haria lost their respective matches in the round of 32, Shail Nayyar was beaten in the previous round.
Phady overcame Gabriel Martins Campos (Brazil) 4-2 (106-12, 73-15, 64-68, 81-13, 24-72, 62-30) with a break of 53 in the first frame to advance to the round of 32 where he was beaten 5-1 (72-35, 69-46, 97-17, 21-80, 81-49, 113-18) by Ireland's Josh Boileau who had breaks of 64, 65 and 78. Phady had a run of 80 in the fourth, the only frame he won.
Earlier, Muhammad Faheem (Pakistan) defeated Nayyar 4-0 (71-6, 72-44, 62-10, 84-9), aided by a break of 54 in the fourth while Chadha, who had received a bye into round of 32, was beaten 5-4 (7-70, 81-0, 89-0, 40-56, 66-23, 81-18, 14-61, 2-59, 86-8) by Australia's Ryan Thomerson.
Chadha put up a brilliant fight. He took the first frame with a break of 65, but Thomerson won the next two for 2-1 before the Indian snatched the fourth.
However, the 19-year old Aussie clinched the fifth and sixth to go 4-2 up only to see Chadha, two years younger, win the seventh and eighth to force the decider.
Thomerson clinched the ninth frame and the match on a break of 63, his third half-century run following 89 in the third and 52 in the sixth.
The last to exit was Phady who lost a tight match to England's Sam Harvey 4-5 after leading 3-0 and 4-3. The frame scores in Harveya¿s favour were: 27-74, 13-61, 53-60, 81-23, 76 (68)-32, 58-44, 59-84, 67-17, 55-21.
The lone Indian still in the tournament is Keerath Bhandaal who will be playing her quarter-final match Saturday against Thailanda's Amornrat Uaduang.
