Indian 'interference' to figure in NSA talks: Pakistan

Pakistan on Tuesday decided to put India's alleged interference in its internal affairs high on the agenda of the talks between its national security advisers in New Delhi on August 23-24.

The decision was taken after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met army chief, Gen. Raheel Sharif, and the chief of the intelligence agency ISI, Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar.

The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, National Security and Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz and Sharif's Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

They discussed Aziz's August 23-24 meeting in New Delhi with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval, Dawn reported.

The report said the agenda would include India's "alleged support for terrorists activities" in Pakistan.

The military leadership reportedly argued that Pakistan must present its views to India in a forceful manner.

The meeting also decided to bring up at the NSA talks India's firing on Pakistani military and civilian positions along the Jammu and Kashmir border.

India blames the Pakistani military for unleashing unprovoked firing and shelling.

Pakistan also wants a counter-terrorism mechanism between the two countries.

Aziz will visit New Delhi on August 23. The August 23-24 meeting between Aziz and Doval follows an agreement between Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Russia last month.
