An Indian national in the UAE Monday denied charges of molesting the eight-year-old daughter of a neighbour, a media report said.
The man was charged with sexual assault of the girl in the corridor of their building Nov 2, The National daily reported.
The girl's father, also an Indian national, testified at the Dubai Criminal Court that his daughter came to him crying and told him that their neighbour had touched her inappropriately.
The girl told her father that she managed to push away the man and escape.
The father of the girl then called the police. "He denied it but I smelled alcohol on him," the father said.
The defendant has denied the charges in court. The verdict in the case is expected Jan 8.
