The 67th Republic Day of India was celebrated here with traditional gaiety and fervour by the Indian community here, a statement said on Thursday.
India's Ambassador Sanjay Bhattacharyya hoisted the national flag at India House and read out the address to the nation by President Pranab Mukharjee.
"I am very enthused by the fact that a lot of Egyptians showed active interest in this event... people have been very excited about the significance of this event. I think our Egyptian friends see a close connect between our traditions and their's," Bhattacharyya said.
He said the year 2016 will be even more exciting with a busy calendar of high-level exchanges, business meets and cultural events.
