An Indian student, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a building here was caught cheating in an examination by her teacher, Dubai police said.
The body of the 14-year-old girl was discovered Friday by a Bangladeshi cleaner who then informed the Dubai police.
The girl had reportedly jumped from the 17th floor of Jumeirah Lakes Towers here, the Khaleej Times reported Monday.
Prima facie investigations revealed that on the day of the incident, the girl was caught cheating in an examination by a teacher and warned that if she was caught repeating the act a second time she would be rusticated.
"Her parents told us that when she returned home, she was distraught and very upset. Her father, who came to know about the cheating, also chided her. She went to her room and locked the door, after which the family heard some sound," a police officer was quoted as saying.
The family came to know about the death of the girl only after the police arrived at the scene.
The police have sent the body for forensic tests.
