Sports Minister Sarabananda Sonowal felicitated the Indian men's blind cricket team, which left from here Monday night to South Africa to participate in the One-Day International (ODI) World Cup from Nov 27 to Dec 9.
The 17-member squad led by Shekar Naik will take part in the quadrennial seven-nation 40-over tournament. Other participating nations are Australia, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and South Africa.
The sports ministry also showed its support to the endeavour and gave an assistance of Rs.10 lakh to the team.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said the team has the best wishes not only from the Indian government but also from the entire nation.
