Top seeded Indians stole the show Friday at the ongoing ITF Junior Tennis competition held here at the red clay courts of the Dakshin Kalikata Sansad sports complex.
Top seed in Girls Singles Under 18, Karman Kaur Thandi blanked lucky loser Yu Pei Lee from Taipei by a dominating scoreline 6-1, 6-2. She will face 6th seeded Yinglak Jittakoat of Thailand in the final Saturday, who got the better of third seed and India's Zeel Desai by a long 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(3) encounter, lasting for over two hours 20 minutes.
Top seed in Boys Singles Under 18, Aryan Goveas took little time to knock down local challenge from Ishaque Eqbal by a straight 6-2, 6-4 win. Goveas will take on 3rd seeded Cing Yang Meng from Taipei in the final Saturday, who brushed aside 8th seeded Kaya Gore from Turkey 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Local boy Nitin Kumar Sinha gave the audience a reason to smile as he lifted the Boys Doubles Under 18 crown, partnering Cing Yang Meng of Taipei. The 3rd seeded duo defeated Ishaque Eqbal and Dhruv Sunish 7-6(2), 4-6, 10-6.
The Girls Doubles Under 18 trophy was claimed by top seeded Taipei's pair of Pei Hsuan Chen and Yang Lee as they drubbed another duo from Taipei, En Shuo Liang and Fang Hsien Wu in a nail-biting final with a score-line of 6-2, 2-6, 10-6.
