The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Monday denounced the "horrific shooting" at the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris that left 12 people dead.

"In this hour of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with relatives of the victims of this terrorist attack and the people of France," INS said in a statement.

"INS views this as a grave threat to the freedom of press and a direct attack on the right to think, write and speak freely in a democratic world by anti-social elements," it said.
