A man was arrested late on Friday night after he allegedly threw a backpack and then jumped over the north fence of the White House, media reported on Sunday.
According to the Secret Service, the incident occurred at around 11.40 p.m., more than four hours after President Barack Obama returned home from the Nuclear Security Summit, ABC News reported.
The man was "immediately taken into custody" by the Secret Service "without incident" and charged with unlawful entry. He was then transported to the D.C. Metropolitan police department, the Secret Service said.
The Secret Service says standard security sweeps were conducted and nothing untoward was found, and the White House complex returned to normal operations.
A spokesman did not respond to questions over the contents of the individual's backpack or his identity.
