Iran defeated Saudi Arabia 3-2 in the 2016 Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) U-16 Championship opener in Group A here on Thursday.
Saudi Arabia were 2-0 up at half-time through goals from Mansor Al Beshe (five minutes) and Dhari Al Anazi (45) at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Iran came back after half-time. Allahyar Sayyad made it 2-1 two minutes into the second period.
Mohammad Sharifi equalised on 68 minutes and then Alireza Asadabadi completed the comeback a minute later, pulling Iran ahead, which eventually turned out to be the winning goal.
