Iran ready for 'more transparency' over its n-programme: President

Iran is ready to show further transparency concerning its nuclear programme but does not accept conditions beyond that, President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday.

"If the talks are about further transparency (by Iran over its nuclear programme), Iran will accept it," Xinhua news agency quote Rouhani as saying, adding that "we will never seal a deal which overlooks the Iranians' inalienable right to progress scientifically and technologically".

"We seek a contract which will help Iran, the region and the world," he said in an administration meeting.

The P5+1 group -- the US, Britain, FranceChina, Russia plus Germany -- hoped to adopt a logical stance with foresight which respected nations' interests and is considerate of the stability of the Middle East, he said.

The Iranian president dismissed recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about a potential agreement between Iran and the powers, saying "only the occupying regime (of Israel) which dwells on war and aggression is against the talks".

On Tuesday, the Israeli prime minister told a joint session of US Congress that "we are better off without a bad deal with Iran".

He claimed that a potential final negotiated deal would make "major concessions" to Iran by leaving it with "a vast nuclear infrastructure" and providing it with "a short breakout time to the bomb", as well as by lifting all the restrictions on its nuclear programme in about a decade.
