Iran is ready to prove that it is not producing nuclear weapons, a media report said Thursday.

Iran "is ready to prove to the world that it is not, and has not been after nuclear weapons," IRNA news agency quoted Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif as saying Wednesday.

Although the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and P5+1 or the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, China, Russia, France, Britain plus Germany - were moving slowly, and differences were still there and both sides have started drafting a comprehensive deal, the foreign minister said.

"Some demands of the P5+1 were totally unacceptable, and we hope that they would have realistic stances" Zarif added.

A new round of nuclear talks started Monday in Vienna between Iran and the P5+1 group.

The West demands that Iran should lower its uranium enrichment capacity, and wants Tehran to maintain only a few hundred centrifuges.

The powers have also expressed concerns over Iran's Arak heavy water reactor which might be used for building nuclear weapons. But Iran insists on the "peaceful" nature of its nuclear activities, urging for a complete removal of sanctions that is hurting its economy badly.
