Iran's Motorcycle and Automobile Federation has allowed Iranian women to take part in motocross races in the country, local media reported on Wednesday.
Mahmoud Seydanlou, the head of the federation, said that "We hope to see the Iranian women in the country's championships. It can pave the way for our women to participate in the world championships", reports Xinhua.
"The Iranian talented women are interested in taking part in the motocross races and we are happy to facilitate their participation in the competitions," Seydanlou was quoted as saying.
According to Tehran Times daily, Iranian state-run television rarely broadcasts women's sports events, although many Iranian women are avid sports enthusiasts and practitioners.
