The Islamic State (IS) has executed a poet and his son on accusations of apostasy in Syria's Deir al-Zour province.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the extremist organisation arrested the poet Mohamed Bashir al-Ani and his son in the village of al-Tabani, Efe news reported.
Syrian daily Enab Baladi said that al-Ani, born in 1960, was one of the most important poets of the province, with three collections of poetry published.
