Rome, Dec 30 (IANS/AKI) Italy's recovery has outstripped expectations this year and the economy is growing, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said.
Renzi told a press conference here on Tuesday that "2015 has gone better than 2014 and better than the forecasts we made last year".
"Italy has got going again, the country is solid and stable," he said, noting that employment had increased this year.
The country's performance confounded past fears that Italy was destined to remain one of the sick men of Europe, Renzi said.
"A few years ago, there were worries that Italy would be mired in perennial economic stagnation, but if we look at the data this year, we see that gross domestic product (GDP) is growing again," he said.
