Rome, Jan 11 (IANS/AKI) Italian Premier Paolo Gentiloni is recovering in a Rome hospital from an emergency surgical procedure to clear a blocked coronary artery, his spokesman said on Wednesday.
The 62-year-old is conscious and in good condition, Gentiloni's spokeswoman Flaminia Lais said.
Gentiloni underwent angioplasty surgery at Rome's Policlinico Gemelli hospital after he felt unwell on his return to Rome on Tuesday from a meeting with French President Francois Hollande in Paris.

He is expected to stay in hospital for three or four days and had been due to meet British Prime Minister Theresa May in London on Thursday.
Gentiloni was appointed Premier in December when Matteo Renzi resigned following a crushing defeat in a referendum on proposed changes to Italy's constitution aimed at streamlining lawmaking.
