Ivanovic reaches French Open quarters

Seventh seed Ana Ivanovic beat Ekaterina Makarova to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open here on Sunday.

Ivanovic, the 2008 champion at the Roland Garros, defeated ninth seed Ekaterina Makarova of Russia 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 in the fourth round, reports Xinhua.

The 27-year-old Serb will next play the 19th seed and 20-year-old Elina Svitolina of Ukraine.
