Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday sought permission from Lok Sabah Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to continue presenting the union budget for 2016-17 while sitting in his seat.

Jaitley sought the Chair's permission almost 25 minutes into his budget speech. The Speaker agreed to his request.

He had last year also sat down in between his budget speech in the Lok Sabha and then continued reading out the text.

Jaitley had, in 2014, taken an unprecedented break during his budget speech due to back pain and had continued reading the document after a brief adjournment of the house.
