The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced Friday that Jakarta will host the 2015 World Championships.
The Indonesian capital beat Kunshan, China, in the race to host the prestigious tournament. Indonesia last staged the sport's premier event in 1989, reports Xinhua.
"There is clearly significant experience among you in hosting events and in certain instances, specifically badminton events," said BWF president Poul-Erik Hxyer.
The BWF also announced that Dongguan, China, will host the 2015 Sudirman Cup.
