Cairo, Jan 17 (IANS/TASS) Japan would allocate $2.5 billion to Middle East countries to help them in their fight against terrorism and also develop of their infrastructure.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is in Egypt on an official visit, announced the package to the countries reeling under the impact of terrorism.
"If terrorism spreads in the Middle East, it will affect the entire world," said Abe.
Tokyo is ready to offer "non-military assistance" to countries, which are involved in fighting the Islamic State (IS). For that purpose, Japan plans to allocate at least $200 million.
The Japanese prime minister is touring Middle East countries including Jordan, Israel and Palestine. He will also attend meetings with the leaders of the aforementioned countries.
