A raw video footage showing students shouting anti-India slogans during a February 9 event in Jawaharlal Nehru University campus, aired by a Hindi news channel, has been found "authentic", police officials claimed on Saturday.
The raw footage, obtained from a news channel and sent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) forensic lab in the national capital, was found authentic, sources said.
The video footage led to filing of a case of sedition against JNU Students' Union President Kanhaiya Kumar and his fellow research scholars Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, triggering a nationwide debate on sedition.
However, senior officials of the Special Cell remained tight-lipped and refused to comment on the issue.
According to the sources, the report from the CBI lab was received by the Special Cell on June 8.
